Kåseberga, Baltic Sea
South of Sweden
This water looks clean and healthy ...
...but this water is heavily contaminated by a number of pollutants, e.g. excessive levels of dioxins, which is thought to cause cancer. The EU has banned sales of the fish abroad.
I love to eat fish, but unfortunately, I would never buy locally caught fish.
The Baltic is the youngest sea on our planet and one of the most unique marine ecosystem, but it is also one of the world´s most threatened marine environments.
What will happen in the future to the Baltic Sea environment?
I´ll never get the answere...
Det skär i mitt hjärta att
Östersjön har blivit ett av världens mest förorenade hav.
Vissa forskare talar om en ekologisk kollaps.
This is a stunning photo! Amazing!
SvaraRaderaA great choice for "orange". It that one of the polluted lifeforms?
SvaraRaderathat's really unique photo!! it's sad to know that the Baltic sea is not doing well.
SvaraRaderaVacker bild och viktig sak !
SvaraRaderaA beautiful shot, the water looks indeed so pure and clear... Have the best memories of summer vacations at the Baltic Sea...

orange
So beautiful!
SvaraRaderaquite a unique photo. it looks like a painting.
SvaraRaderaIs the seaweed naturally orange, or orange because of the pollution?
SvaraRaderaFantastic photo!
SvaraRaderaMy bits of orange.
it looks like a painting. sad to hear about the contaminated sea.
SvaraRaderaFascinating photo of seaweed! I did not know that the Baltic Sea was so threatened! So sad when we destroy the very Nature that gives us life!
SvaraRaderaHi Randi,
SvaraRaderaWelcome back to Photo Hunting with a vengeance. You were missed! Hope things were okay and you just wanted a bit of rest, is all. :)
Very unique photo! Your post was very informative too, thank you for sharing!
SvaraRaderaHave a nice weekend :)
Great photo. It is disturbing to read about the troubles of the Baltic Sea. We humans have a lot to answer for. We thought the seas were so vast that they could absorb anything and everything we throw at them, but we were wrong. We have been able to negatively affect the seas and the atmosphere too. Will we die in a toxic soup of our own making? Stay tuned -- the answer may not be as far in the future as we hope.
SvaraRaderaMy "orange" post is not nearly so thought provoking.

Spännande Randi. Vilken bild.
SvaraRaderaBeautiful and a telling story about our impact on the environment.
SvaraRaderabeautiful orange capture!
SvaraRaderaSå vacker bild, men jag tror jag inte riktigt fattat att vårt hav är så nedsmutsat.
SvaraRaderaHa en skön helg.//Lissen
Great photo but a sad reality :(
SvaraRaderaWonderful shot of the seaweed. It is sad how bad pollution has gotten. I hope you have a great weekend.
SvaraRaderaOh such a unique shot, great color, but so sad to read about the Baltic, I had no idea.
SvaraRaderaAlso your shot of the sunset is amazing too. Have a happy weekend. Nice to see you on here again.
Your photo almost looks like a painting. Interesting how polluted waters offers beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing.
SvaraRaderaSu-sieee! Mac
This and That. Here and There. Now, Sometimes Then.
I love the photo, it is so beautiful and the sea water looks so blu greenish, here in Finland it is just dark.
SvaraRaderaI do eat fish from Baltic Sea. If I eat peace of one fish I will not get a cancer from that and I eat Baltic herring, it is okej.
I'm sad we have polluted the Baltic Sea but it is still there and maybe it will survive, I hope so:)
How sad that it is so polluted. Wonderful photo Randi. Happy weekend to you.
SvaraRaderaHej Randi!

Hi Randi, nice to see you back on PhotoHunt. Your photo is so beautiful but it's sad the way we are polluting our waters all over the world. I hope that we can turn it around.
SvaraRaderaHappy weekend!
